Thanksgiving 2009

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. My parents came out Wednesday night and stayed until Sunday morning. They had a great time playing with Will. He was very spoiled and stayed up late at night and drank his bottle while laying on the floor. He took right to my parents and was happy to have them hold him and kiss him (which occurred alot!!).

On Thanksgiving day we all went to the park and watched Will "play". He loves to walk around the base of the equipment and bang on the posts. I see a job as a civil engineer in his future as he likes to see how things work and how they are made. He was very upset when David tried to take him away from the slide before he could investigate it. Our Thanksgiving meal was very yummy. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy (that David made from scratch), rolls, corn, asparagus, stuffing and cranberries. I made a cranberry cheesecake for dessert and David made a pecan pie. We had alot of leftovers!

Mom and I were up bright and early (7:45am) on Black Friday. We found some great deals at Macy's. We were home by noon so that my dad and David could go to the CU/Neb football game. Poor CU lost. On Saturday my parents and I went to the outlets in Castle Rock while David stayed home with Will.

David and I were able to have a few date nights. Friday night we went to Target to look around and see if there were any good deals left (there weren't). Will was drinking his bottle when we got home and we asked how bathtime went....Will decided to have some fun with Grammie and Grampie and poop in the bath. Apparently it was everywhere! Glad we missed that one! Saturday night was another date night and we went to Boulder for dinner. We had dessert at the Cheesecake Factory--peppermint bark cheesecake = heaven!! Sunday morning my parents left and things are back to normal. We leave for Tulsa in 3 weeks...I can't believe it's almost Will's first Christmas!

10 months!

Will turned 10 months old on Saturday. I can't believe that in 2 months we will have a one year old! He is very active and doesn't sit still for long. He is army crawling (think Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump--just for you Sarah :) ) all over the place. He also loves to cruise along the furniture. We moved the couch around so that he has plenty of things to hold onto while he cruises. He loves to hold the remote control and has a fascination with coasters. His new trick is to clap at everything especially when he does something he thinks is funny! We go swimming a few times a month and he loves the water. He enjoys his baths and has discovered his reflection in the silver plate below the faucet in the bathtub. David and I joke that he's talking to his twin, Phil. He's still a social butterfly and flirts with everyone we meet. We can't go to Walmart without someone stopping us to comment on how blue his eyes are or how cute his cheeks are. He just smiles and laughs whenever anyone talks to him. We are still working on finger foods, but right now he has no interest in it at all and just throws it on the floor.

The rest of Halloween

We have been so busy that I forgot to blog about the rest of our Halloween weekend! Tuesday night it started snowing and it continued until Thursday morning so we missed a few Halloween events. There was no way I was going to drive in blowing snow with Will in the car. Thursday night we decided to carve pumpkins. Will wanted nothing to do with it at all! He barely touched the pumpkin and had no interest in the "guts and seeds". I'll bet that changes next year! Friday afternoon, we shoveld off the car and went to a Halloween party. I joined a moms group on a website called meetup.com and LOVE it! All of the moms are super friendly and most of them have boys around Will's age. The party was being held at a house within walking distance of ours so that was very fun. I know we will be hanging out alot during the cold winter months! There were about 12 babies there and everyone had a great time! Will was exhausted by the time we went home. Friday night my friend Karen had a Halloween party at her house. I didn't get any good pictures from it, but it was fun to see everyone all dressed up. By the time the actual Halloween day came, we were finished with the monkey costume! I defintely got my $10 out of it!

It's hard to keep up with a 9 month olds social calendar! Today we went to our third Halloween party. I joined a new moms group a few weeks ago and this was the first event I attended. Will and I met a few friends there and had a very nice time. Here are a few pictures of the festivities.

We attended our second Halloween event this evening. It was at the YMCA in Boulder. Some friends of ours are members and they invited us. The activities were mostly for older children, but Will had a great time people watching. They had a Halloween ice skating show that we watched for a bit. Will was so cute--he'd laugh and clap after each person did something cool like a jump or twirl. I think he was only clapping because he heard other people doing it...he was always a few seconds behind :)

First Halloween event

Last night we went to a Fall Festival at the school I used to teach at. It was so cute to see my former students dressed up! Will wore his monkey costume and carried his pumpkin bag. Everyone commented on how cute he was and I have to agree! This event was just the first of many to come. We are actually going to a Halloween related event everyday next week!

Grammie came to visit us last weekend and we had a great time! The weather couldn't have been better--in the 70s all weekend! We went back to the pumpkin patch to see the petting zoo as last time it was too cold for the animals to be out. Will was more interested in watching the people than the animals! David and I were able to go on many dates which was very nice. We met friends in Denver one night which hasn't happened in a very long time! Here are a few pictures from the weekend.
