Out with the old and in with the new!

I can't believe how fast 2008 went by! We don't have any exciting plans to ring in the new year as we thought we'd be playing with a baby, but I guess that's not happening. So we'll just order in food and watch a movie.

I've been thinking about all the fun we had in 2008. Here are some highlights!

• Finding out we are going to be parents! And then finding out it's a boy.
• Spending a week in paradise (Captiva Island, Fl)
• Bolder Boulder with the family
• Cody and Sadie are alive and well!
• All of our friends who have welcomed children into their lives (so many girls!)
• Successful adoptions (Cate and Ava)
• Spending time with friends in Omaha
• Reconnecting with old friends via Facebook (cheesy I know!)
• Celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary in July
• Concerts- Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts
• Baby showers
• Being able to spend 2 weeks in Tulsa with the family
• Retirement!
• Going through this pregnancy with the love and support of family and friends. Especially the love of my husband

Exciting things for 2009

• All of baby Will's firsts (smile, laugh, crawling, etc, etc)
• Having our friends and family meet our son
• Sooners winning the National Championship (Jan 8!!)
• Me turning 28 and David turning 29 (almost 30--yikes!)

Nothing!

That's right--no contractions, no baby, no nothing! I really thought maybe something would happen Sunday night as I was feeling crampy and tight, but nope. Other than that, I've been feeling perfectly fine. I do have a fear of my water breaking somewhere random like Walmart, but I don't really think that will happen. Sarah told me that if you have a goal in mind, once you accomplish that goal, the baby will know that you are relaxed and then he will come. So I guess baby Will is waiting for us to find somewhere for Cody to stay so we don't have to keep him in the car. Tomorrow is my "un-official" due date and Thursday is the hospital's due date for me. I have a doctor appt on Friday when we'll take about induction. Looks like there's a big chance that Will and I will have the same birthday (mine's on Monday)!

Less than a week to go!!

I can't believe that Christmas is over! David and I had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays in Colorado although we did get off to a rough start. We went to Christmas Eve mass only to find that it was overflowing with people. We had to sit in the foyer and weren't able to hear anything. Then we tried taking pictures in front of the Christmas tree and our camera fell off the chair and broke. We had filets for dinner, but the oven was heating up too fast and the smoke alarm kept going off. After dinner we drove around looking at lights and then watched a Christmas movie in bed. Waking up on Christmas morning was a little strange as it was just us and Cody. But we made cinnamon rolls and eggs and started opening gifts. Our families were very generous this year and we were given some great things. David got me a Chi flatiron which is going to take me a while to get used to as it's super hot! I got him some new shoes as his were falling apart! Baby Will got clothes, toys, and a really nice baby book. All in all, it was a great Christmas!

Last night we went to the movies to see "Marley and Me". I'm a complete dog lover so I was super excited to watch it. The puppies were so cute! The movie was hilarious (especially because we have Cody to relate to!), but be warned that the ending is really sad. I think I used 6 tissues and even David cried. But I'd recommend that people see it.

I had a dream last night that we brought Will home on Jan 2nd. So maybe that means he'll actually be born on his due date of Dec 31 (I changed the "official" due date from 1/1 to 12/31). I had a little progress when I saw my doctor last week, but nothing too exciting. I go back on Friday if I'm not in labor. Then we'll schedule a date for induction. For the past 9 months, I kept using Christmas as a get through date- "I just have to get through Christmas and then I can have a baby". Well, that time has come and passed and now I'm totally freaked out about everything! Are we ready? (too late now!). Do we have everything? (we can always go to the store later). David has been good about calming my fears, but they still pop up!

I have everyone's email addresses and I'll send out an email or post on the blog whenever we go to the hospital.

Single digits!

I can't believe that I have less than 10 days left of being a non-mommy! It's funny to think that I never knew when I was 9 days pregnant and now I only have 9 days left of being pregnant. David and I are getting very excited to meet our little guy. I have a feeling that he will be a late arrival. I'd love for him to arrive on Dec 28 (because then it would be an even day, on an even month, of an even year--I have a thing for even numbers). Or he might arrive on Jan 2 which is my niece Cate's birthday or Will and I will share a birthday on Jan 5. It's all up to Will and the big guy in the sky. As long as he's here by Jan 8 so he can wear his crimson and cream to cheer on the Sooners in the National Championship (we start 'em young in Sooner nation!).

I took my car in for repairs today. The other guy's insurance is paying for everything since my car was parked; including a rental car. I think the total was around $600--new bumper and taillight. I'm very happy that they had the parts in stock and that I don't have to rely on a rental for more than one day. It's a Chevy Malibu, which is very nice, but is really hard to get in and out of when you are 9 months pregnant. I miss my Jeep!

No I'm not in labor yet!

Here's my most recent pregnancy photo. I think we took it last week when I was 37.5 wks along. I guess I've entered that time when whenever I call someone, they ask "are you in labor?". My mom called yesterday morning and asked me that question and when I told her that I wasn't, she said "okay, I just had a dream and needed to check". Duh--I would have called you! My hospital rooms will have wireless internet, so I'll be able to email everyone and hopefully post some pictures. I have my next appt on Tuesday so we'll see what the doctor says about any progress.

David has been working really hard on making a toy box for baby Will. He finally finished it over the weekend and it looks great! Thanks to the Kohl's Black Friday sale, the toy box already has toys in it.

Boo to the ice!

I was quietly putting away laundry today when I happened to look out my bedroom window just in time to see a car crash into mine. We don't have an attached garage so both of us just park out front of our townhouse. I guess the roads are really slippery out and this car full of teenage guys was driving really fast and tried to stop, but slid into my car instead. My car doesn't have too much damage other than a busted brake light and a bumper dent. But this really couldn't have happened at a worse time! The backseat of David's car is broken so there's no way we could put a car seat in there if we needed to. I guess I'll have to spend my day tomorrow getting quotes and dealing with insurance people. Yuck!

Good news!

I had my doctor appointment today and baby Will isn't transverse anymore! He decided to cooperate and is head down which is where he needs to stay for the next 21 days....OMG 21 days!

Finished!

We have finally finished baby Will's room. I'm very happy with everything I chose. I hope he likes it! I'm full term (37 wks) on Thursday which means that if he was born anytime after that date, he'd be fine. So I guess we are on baby watch now!

Hospital tour

Last night we had our official hospital tour and registration. Visiting the mommy and baby floor and seeing the rooms made everything very very real! The L & D room is huge! They have all the necessary amenities: wireless internet, tub/shower, TV with dvd player, mini fridge, pull out couch for David. After the baby is born, I'll stay in there for a few hours and then we'll all move to the Mommy and Baby recovery room. It's smaller than the L & D room, but has all the same features (except that David will have to sleep on a pull out chair instead of a couch, but I don't feel too sorry for him!). My favorite feature in the M & B room is the huge room service menu--it's all about the food! Our hospital is a Baby Friendly hospital so they encourage breast feeding and rooming-in with the parents. So as soon as Baby Will is born, he's ours! I'm not sure how long we'll stay in the hospital--it all depends on how smoothly everything goes. Right now my biggest concern is what to do with Cody! He's fine staying in the car for a bit, but if it's snowing he might freeze. We have a kennel that says they can hold a spot for him, but who knows if that will pan out. I'm trying not to stress about it... Currently I'm working on packing my hospital bag. I feel like I have enough stuff to last me a week in the hospital! But I'm an overpacker so that should surprise no one :)

Today is our first big snow fall. I haven't been outside yet as it's 20F, but there's probably 1-2 inches on the ground. It took David an hour and a half to get to work today. Poor guy!

FYI....

I won't be sending out Christmas cards this year. Usually it's one of my favorite things to do at the holidays, but we have so much going on right now that something had to be taken off the list. So don't think I've forgotten about you. But we will be sending out cute birth announcements so you can be excited about that!

I forgot to tell you about Cody's adventure on Friday night. We brought him to Denver with us and left him in my car while we ate and walked around. When we got back to the car about 2 hours later, David noticed that the car next to us had been broken into. They smashed the window and stole the stereo and other items. I'm sure Cody heard the commotion and started barking and who would want to break into a car with a barking dog?! So for the first time in his life, Cody's barking actually helped!

Thanksgiving 2008

I can't believe Thanksgiving has come and gone already! We had a wonderful time celebrating with my parents. They arrived really late on Wednesday night. Because my mom brought so many baby things, they had to drive my dad's work truck. Pretty funny watching them get out of a truck with an Oklahoma license plate--hicks! Thursday was spent cooking and watching football. We had all the usual Thanksgiving treats--turkey, cranberries, sweet potatoes, etc. I'm getting hungry just typing all of that! My mom and I hit the stores around 8am on Friday. We found some great deals on Fisher Price toys at Kohl's so Baby Will is set on those! Then we headed over to the mall and bought a few things. We were home by noon just in time for more football. Friday night we went to downtown Denver for dinner and to watch them turn the Christmas lights on the capital building. Just as we were walking from the restaurant to the capital building, it started snowing! It was perfect timing! It snowed most of Friday night and some of Saturday, but as it usually happens in Colorado, it's gone now and the sky is blue. On Saturday we went to Golden, CO and drove into the mountains. We stopped by Buffalo Bills grave, the Mt. Cabrini Shrine and Red Rocks ampitheater. It had stopped snowing by then so the weather was great to get out and walk around all of these sights. Golden is a great little town if you are ever in Colorado and want to do the tourist thing. After sightseeing, we went to the Castle Rock outlets. Actually Mom and I went to the outlets and Dad and David sat in Chili's watching the Alabama/Auburn game---heaven forbid we miss that!! Then we sped home to catch the OU/OSU game--Boomer Sooner!! My parents left early Sunday morning to head back to Oklahoma. It's weird to think that the next time we see them will be to introduce them to their grandson! David and I spent Sunday hanging Christmas decorations and relaxing. Perfect end to a great weekend!

Everything is going well on the pregnancy front. I'm 35.5 weeks right now. David and I register at the hospital on Wed. I'm excited because we finally get to tour the maternity ward. Some new annoying issues I have is my right hand falls alseep whenever it chooses (like right now!), my ankle bones have disappeared, and my rings no longer fit. Gotta love the 3rd trimester swelling!

Twilight...

Disappointing! That's the first word that comes to mind. The second work is awkward! If you have read the books, you know that they aren't the most well written books. I thought the movie would be a little better, but it wasn't. The characters are so awkward and unemotional at the beginning. I'll defintely be renting the rest of the movies instead of spending $10 to see them in the theater. But I did see a preview for Harry Potter #6 which looked great! I also saw a preview on TV for Marley & Me. If you are a dog lover, you should read that book. The movie looks really funny! I might have to make David see it with me on Christmas day when it comes out.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. There are so many things I'm thankful for this year with the biggest being Baby Will. Only a few more weeks until we get to meet him!

Movie night

Last night David and I went to a movie for the first time in months! We went to see "Changeling" with Angelina Jolie. From the previews, I knew it wasn't going to be a light hearted movie, but WOW was it intense. I kept having to tell myself that it was a true story. I'd recommend it to people, but be aware that it is a bit disturbing (mainly because it's true). We looked up the real story online when we got home and the director (Clint Eastwood) actually followed the story very well. I was bummed because we didn't see any good previews....just dumb shoot-em-up movies.

On a lighter note, I'm still feeling really good. I have 6 1/2 weeks to go. I'm starting to get that end of pregnancy swelling so my fingers look like sausages. So annoying!! Baby Will's bedding came last week and so did his changing table. I'll have to post pictures after I clean the room up, but it looks really cute! I love the bedding!

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is in two weekends? Usually by now, we have a bit of snow on the ground or it's at least pretty cold out. But today and tomorrow are going to be in the 70s with sunny skies. I love it! We did actually have our first "snow" last week. Mainly it was just on the cars and the grass and melted by 11am. That's what I love about Colorado--it will snow in the morning and melt by the afternoon.

50 days!

I just looked at my baby countdown and realized that there's only 50 days left until baby Will's due date! Of course he might come before that date or take his time and be late. I had my 32 wk doctor appt today. I learned that baby Will is positioned transversely in my tummy (sideways). I usually feel kicks on the sides of my tummy so I wasn't too surprised when I learned this. The issue is that I can't deliver a transverse baby the regular way. So if he doesn't change positions by my next appt, we have to decide if we want to move him manually or schedule a c-section. Oh my! The doctor gave me some exercises to do so I'd better get started on those. As much as I like to be organized and plan things out, I don't think I want a c-section!

Baby Shower #2

Three of my friends had a baby shower for me on Saturday. It was at a tea house in Boulder. It was a small gathering (which was really nice) so I was able to talk with everyone about baby stuff. We ate brunch, chatted, and opened presents. Baby Will got some really cute clothes! The main activity was to decorate scrapbook pages for the baby. It was fun to see all the different pages. Now I just have to keep up the scrapbook! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon girls!

Omaha

We spent the weekend in Omaha, Nebraska visiting friends. There were 4 couples there- Sarah and Chad (and Hannah) from Kansas, Dawn and Dominic (and Juliet) from Oklahoma, us from Colorado, and Marcy and Nick from Nebraska. 3 of the girls went to middle school together, 2 of the boys went to middle school together, 6 of us went to high school together and 4 of us went to college together. Whew, that's alot of history!

We arrived at Marcy and Nick's on Friday night. We were the first to arrive so the 4 of us were able to chat for a bit. It's always fun to hear about other people's lives in different states. Then David and I got a lesson in guitar hero (I have no future as a band member!). Dawn and Dominic arrived really late Friday night--so we basically said hi and good night to them. Sarah and Chad came in on Saturday. The weather in Omaha was perfect (even though the boys never actually left the house on Saturday to experience it!). The girls pretty much stayed upstairs talking while the boys watched every football game possible. The big game was Saturday night (OU-Neb) which was pretty much over after the 1st quarter when the score was 35-0. Everyone left around noon on Sunday. It was a great weekend to catch up with old friends and create fun memories. Plus I was able to watch Sarah and Dawn be moms so that helped for the future. They made it look really easy!

This trip marked the last one that David and I will take without a child. I'm really glad that I was able to spend it with great friends. The next time I see them, I'll be a mom!!

Holy shoes Batman!

Yesterday a mom from the school I used to teach at gave me 2 HUGE boxes of baby clothes. Now Will has a few coats for the winter including a cute baby snowsuit. The coolest part was that in the boxes were 30 (!!!) pairs of kids shoes ranging from newborn to size 5. Some of them have never been worn! David is very jealous that his son has 3 pairs of Nikes (including a black pair of Jordans) and a never worn pair of Timberland boots. Hopefully this kid is an early walker :-)

Interesting fact: As you know, my family is from Canada. We all got our American citizenship 4 years ago. Looking at the calendar yesterday I realized that this election day (Nov 4) marks the 20th anniversary of us living in the USA. We moved to Oklahoma on Nov 4, 1998. Very cool!!

Body parts

I was lying in bed this morning talking with David while he was getting ready for work. Baby Will was wiggling up a storm and I put my hand on my tummy to feel him. I felt something really hard in the middle of my tummy and realized that I was actually touching a baby body part! It was too dark to see anything, but it felt like an elbow or knee. I quickly took my hand away because it felt so wierd. Then he moved again and I felt another body part sticking out. It was the strangest, alien-like feeling ever! Of course as soon as David came over, Baby Will moved away and didn't wiggle anymore.

Rock the vote

I voted last night! Boulder County encourages people to do mail-in ballots and we received ours about 2 weeks ago. Yes, it sat on the kitchen table for 2 weeks, but that's beside the point. I got motivated last night and read the ballot information book and filled out my ballot. Now I just have to mail it! The "I voted" sticker was even included in the envelope so I'll wear that on the real election day. This was my first time to vote for President. I became an American citizen exactly 4 years ago on November 4, but it was past the registeration deadline for that year. So this was a big deal for me! I feel good that my voice will be heard...now we'll just have to wait until Nov 4 to see who wins. (that's also the last night of our baby class, so we'll have to wait in anticipation while learning about birth.)


I've been a reading machine lately! I finished all 4 books in the Twilight series. They were okay, but I'll still go see the movie when it comes out. Last night I finished "The Heretics Daughter" which is about the Salem witch trials. They beginning was a little slow, but it was fascinating to read about that time in our country's history--so scary! It brought back memories of listening to the Crucible play in high school. Today I'm going to start the new Nicholas Sparks book, "The Lucky One". Man, I love the library!! I still have 2 other books plus baby books sitting on my night table so I think I'm good for a while.


We watched the dumbest (and crudest) movie last night--Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It seemed to go on forever! Don't watch it if you don't enjoy hearing the F word in every sentence.


This weekend is going to be a relaxing one. We don't have any big plans other than just hanging out. The weather is going to be beautiful so we'll probably be outside with the dog. Next weekend is Omaha!

Pumpkin Picking!

We went to the pumpkin patch on Saturday. We were going to try a new one, but decided not to change things up. We've been going to the same patch for 4 years and they have the best pumpkins! There must be thousands of them. The weather was beautiful so we decided to take Cody with us. After driving around the patch for a few minutes, we found a deserted spot and jumped out to claim our 4 pumpkins (we had to include one for Will and Cody!). As we were choosing pumpkins, Cody decided to roll in a pile of rotting pumpkins. He smelled awful!! So he was put back into the car as we continued our search. It's so hard to choose just 4 pumpkins when there are so many great ones!

Baby class

We had our first childbirth class last night. It's a 4 part series. The instructor seems really nice and laid back. There are about 9 couples in the class (6 of which are having boys!). Last night was spent getting to know everyone and figure out what we wanted to learn in the class. Then we watched The Video. David and I were subjected to a childbirth video in high school so I was prepared for what to expect and was surprised that the high school one was more graphic than this one was. The video did make me want the next 77 days to go by really slowly....I think I was more freaked out than David was. Other than the childbirth class, I signed us up for 4 other classes: breastfeeding, happiest baby on the block, baby class that goes over the first few weeks of life, and hospital tour/registration. We need all the help and advice that we can get!

We spent the weekend in Minnesota for David's cousin's wedding. The weather was gorgeous up there and the trees were changing colors. I thought it would be a nice place to live, until David reminded me of the winters. So I guess we'll just settle for visiting every once in a while! It was fun to see family that we haven't seen in a few years. We slacked on the picture taking and didn't get one of us together so I can't show you what I wore. Oops!

This weekend we are going to the pumpkin patch to pick the biggest, orangiest pumpkin out there! I love this time of year :-)

Catch-ups

These past few weeks have been flying by! I have found a daily schedule that helps me get through the day without being bored. I usually workout for about an hour in the morning, then have lunch and then run errands for a few hours. It's amazing how one errand can turn into six and by that time it's 4pm! Then I come home to relax until David gets home. I'm sure this schedule will change once the snow comes, but I'm liking it for now. I'm still attending my water aerobics class and have made some nice friends. It's good to be able to talk to someone who knows exactly what you are going through. I'm going to another MOMs group meeting tomorrow night--this time it's a moms night out, so I won't be the only one without a kid!

I started reading the Twilight series this week. I've heard very good things about it from almost everyone I know! I'll say that while it is good, I much prefer the Harry Potter series. But I'm on the second book and as long as Borders keeps sending me coupons, I'll keep buying the books!

We are going to Minnesota this weekend for one of David's cousin's wedding. We haven't been up there for a few years so it will be fun to see his family again. I found a dress to wear to the wedding, but feel like a house when I wear it. Give me jeans and a t-shirt anyday!

Being Catholic, David and I have been curious about the name William and if there are any patron saints with that name. Thanks to my friend Sean, who is studying to become a priest (yay Sean!), we learned that St. William of ___ (can't remember where he's from) is the patron saint of adopted children, which I find very cool considering my nephew and niece were adopted. There's also another St. William who people can pray to to cure headaches. As we were researching all of this information, David wondered if the saints ever tired of listening to the same prayers over and over. "Another headache?! Take an Advil!". Just kidding :-)

Quick update on Sadie--she's alive and doing well! Her blood count is good and stable so she only needs to take 1/2 a pill per day. Yay! My mom took her to church last weekend for the blessing of the pets. So now if she does pass away, she'll go to Heaven because all dogs go to Heaven!

I'd like to end this post by sending out some good luck dust to three special people. Rachel--good luck with your upcoming labor and delivery. I can't wait to see pictures of Ms. Ella and have her meet Will! Emily and Ben--good luck with your travels to Russia. I hope everything goes smoothly and Cate is able to come home to her new loving family. I can't wait to meet her!

I finally remembered to take pictures of Will's room. We changed our guest room into the nursery. The bed is still in there, but now it's on the opposite wall and is long ways like a day bed. The crib is against the wall with the adorable wall hangings above it. We should get the glider next week, but for now the stroller is in it's place.

Here is a picture looking into his closet (or rather his side of the closet). We aren't getting a dresser for the room. We found an organizer system at Target that fits perfectly in the closet. Time to fill it will socks and diapers!

Yay! We made it to the third trimester! It's all down hill from here :-) Things continue to go smoothly with this pregnancy. I just hope I can be so lucky next time.

Here is my 27th week picture. I have been taking pictures throughout the pregnancy and was looking through them today. I can't believe how much I have grown (which I know is supposed to happen)! Looking back at my 9 week picture, when I wasn't showing at all, I feel ashamed of how much time I have wasted in my life obsessing about my weight. People would tell me that I was slender but I never believed them. Sorry David, I didn't even believe you! Seeing myself looking like that is a complete eye-opener. It was like looking at a different person. I made a promise to myself today that I will not waste another minute worrying about my weight unless a doctor tells me I need to.

To my wonderful husband- you get one "I told you so" for all the times I asked you how I looked and didn't believe you. I will believe you from now on :-)

Fall Colors

On Saturday we drove up into the mountains to look at the Aspens changing colors. It was really cool to look up and see a mountain full of green evergreens mixed with splashes of gold Aspen. They call them Colorado Gold and I can totally see why! We took Cody with us since we'd be gone for most of the day. He did really well until we stopped for a picnic lunch. That's when he forgot that he's 11 1/2 years old and decided to run around like a puppy. He got into everything! He was running up the hill and practically rolling down it as it was pretty steep. Then he found a huge pile of horse poop and decided to roll in it. He was disgusting! David had to march him over to a lake and wash him off. Then he was banished to the car while we finished lunch. Crazy dog! It was pretty funny to watch David holding him by the harness and forcing him to walk next to him. Here are some pictures of the Colorado Gold.

Monday again! It always seems like the weekends just fly by. David and I had a great weekend. We had a date night on Friday which we haven't had in a long time! His boss gave him an Entertainment coupon book and we used a BOGO coupon for a new restaurant. It was pretty good food. A neighboring town was having a huge garage sale on Saturday so we headed over there that morning. We found some great deals! If you are having a baby, garage sales are the best place to go. I got a brand new baby sling for $3 regularly $30 at BRU. Score! After the garage sale we ran errands and then took Cody to the park for a picnic. Yesterday was spent watching Broncos and cleaning the house.

I went to the moms group on Friday and had a good time. I felt a little funny not having a child with me, but everyone was so nice and encouraged me to continue coming. They also have groups that don't involve children such as book clubs and cooking clubs. I think I have found a new group of friends!

Speaking of friends--I'm going to begin a countdown today until October 31. Not because I'm excited about Halloween, but because that's the weekend my friends and I are going to Omaha for a girls weekend! Actually this year marks the first couples and children weekend. It will be Sarah and her family, Dawn and her family, D and I, and Marcy and Nick. I'm so excited as it's been a long time since we've all seen each other! So here's to 40 more days until we are reunited!!

And I know I've been bad about posting pictures. I'm going to add some tonight or tomorrow of the crib. Stay tuned!

Cribs

After searching high and low, we finally found a crib that we like. My mom actually suggested it and once we looked at it, we thought it was perfect! It's a Baby Italia Pinehurst Lifetime crib in Espresso. It's at Babies R Us if you'd like to peek at it. We bought it on Sunday, but didn't get it until Monday because my Jeep was too small to fit it in. David put it together on Monday night and it's so nice looking! I keep walking into the room to look at it!

Will is going to start out in a pack 'n play in our room for a few weeks. Then we will transition him down to the guest room (which I guess I should call Will's room!). I was concerned about losing the guest room as a place for guests to sleep, but once we set the crib up in there we came up with a new idea. Originally we were going to move the bed to the garage and just have the baby's stuff in there. But now we are going to leave the bed there along with the crib. Instead of buying a nice dresser right now, we are going to get a cheap one and keep it in the closet. That way we can still have people stay with us after Will is born (don't worry--we'll bring him upstairs when you come over!). Problem solved. We are still planning on putting the house on the market in the spring. Then we can start looking for a place that will fit all of the stuff we have accumulated recently!

I have always been envious of my sister-in-law's moms group that she belongs to in Michigan. After doing some research, I learned that we have a bunch of groups here in Colorado. I emailed one of the ladies expressing my interest in joining. I thought she'd give me some information and tell me to join after the baby is born. But instead, she invited me to the Friday playgroup to meet some people and talk. She seems very excited about life as she uses a million exclamation points in her emails!!! It will be fun to start doing things with other moms as not many of my friends have kids. I'll let you know how it goes.

One last update....

Poor Sadie! She kept biting at her bandage so they had to put a cone on her. She's actually not supposed to be sitting in the chair, but by the look on her face she really doesn't care!

Baby Shower

For the last 2 weeks I have been hanging out in Tulsa. Now that I don't live in Oklahoma anymore, I can really appreciate how nice it is. I love going back and seeing my friends and family. That being said...I love coming back to Colorado and having the temperature be 75F and sunny. The first weekend I was in Tulsa the temperature was close to 100F with 80% humidity--I wanted to die! I went on a walk today along the creek behind our house and the weather was perfect. I started to think about how I used to love summer time. Who doesn't love sleepovers, swimming, going to the lake, and just having fun all summer long?! But now that I'm a grown up, I have decided that fall is my favorite season. I love watching the leaves change color and going up into the mountains to watch the elk migrating. I love that we can sleep with the windows open and the air conditioning off. But most of all I love buying new sweaters!


I had a wonderful baby shower while I was in Tulsa. It was hosted by Betsy and her daughter Rachel. I can't believe how generous everyone was to baby Will! Here are a few pictures to highlight the festivities.

Sadie update

Oh man has it been an emotional few days! I think I cried most of Thursday night and Friday morning over this crazy dog. Thank goodness, the vet was positive about Sadie recovering and we didn't have to put her down. She had a blood transfusion on Friday and things are looking good. She spent the weekend in an emergency vet with 24 hour care so that made everyone feel much better. My mom is picking her up from the vet tomorrow and bringing her home. Unfortunately I leave to go home before she can pick her up. But I was able to see her on Saturday so I'm okay. It's just amazing how attached you become to an animal. She's been in my life for 8 1/2 years and has brought so much joy to us. I pray for her every night and will continue to do so until she's better.

On a more happy note, I had a wonderful baby shower today. Baby Will is going to be a spoiled little boy! I'll post pictures when I get home.

Sadie

I've been in Tulsa for the past week visiting my family. Meagan and Rhett were here over Labor Day weekend. We all had a great time catching up and hanging out together. They both left on Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday evening, Sadie (our dog) was rolling on the carpet when she all of a sudden started having a seizure. I was the only one in the room who saw it. Throughout the night and into Wed, every once in a while her back legs would start to spasm a little and she'd fall over. Then last night she had a really bad seizure and peed on the carpet. My mom made a vet appointment for this afternoon, but then Sadie had another seizure this morning and Mom decided to take her in for an all day observation. She just called with news from the vet and it's not good at all. There could be three things wrong: tick born illness, cancer, or something else I can't remember. Basically her red blood cells are attacking her body. The vet is doing one final x-ray and then we'll have to decide what to do. I really hope she's not in pain right now. She is a great dog. I'll keep you updated.

Nice people

I love nice people. There's a girl in my water aerobics class who is due in 2 weeks. Last week she told me that her sister had given her a bunch of fall/winter maternity clothes. Since this girl's baby is due in Sept, she wouldn't need the clothes and asked if I would like them. Free clothes?! Heck yeah! She brought them today and I just went through them. There are some lounge pants, long sleeved shirts, and nice pants. I was a little nervous because you never know what other people like to wear. So today I scored some new fall clothes. Now if only the weather would get cooler so I could wear them!

Oh BOY!!

We had our big ultrasound today! I was really nervous that Peanut was going to be shy and not share with us. At first the ultrasound tech said that he/she had his/her feet crossed at the ankle and tucked underneath his/her bottom so she couldn't see the gender. But then she pushed a little bit and Peanut uncrossed his/her legs. Then we saw that Peanut is a boy!! We are going to name him William David Tanner, William after our dads and David after David. Start buying blue!!

Barbie?!

I'd always heard that pregnant women have crazy dreams about babies. I usually have really weird dreams, but none of them had a baby in them until last night. In my dream, David and I were driving home from the hospital with a new baby girl. The next day the baby looked more like a doll with long hair and regular clothes on. We took her in the car and asked her what she would like to be named. We were both shocked with our 2 day old girl started suggesting names! I told her that we had one in mind, but couldn't remember it at all. After some random choices from the baby I remembered the name Kaitlyn. She said that was an okay name and it was settled. We got home from wherever we were going (for some reason we were going to a house that was haunted and stealing furniture) and I put the baby down for a nap. When I went to get her up, I discovered that she has turned into a Barbie. I could even see the Barbie doll laying in the pack and play. That was the end of that wild dream. What does it all mean?!?!

I used to play Barbies for hours and hours as a kid. (Remember all of those great times Rachel?). I never thought that playing with them was going to impact my future life, but apparently I was wrong! I really hope I don't have a Barbie as a daughter!!

A great deal!

Who doesn't love to go shopping and find an amazing deal?! I went to Target today (actually 3 of them) and found some great deals. We got a highchair for $25 regularly $100, a travel system (car seat and stroller) for $47 regularly $190 and a slew of baby towels and shoes for $10. I couldn't believe how great the sales were. It made me want to drive to every Target I could find! I have now been bitten by the baby buying bug! JcPenney is having a huge sale tomorrow so I'm going to look for some cute gender neutral clothes. But even if I find some boy or girl clothes for a good price, I can always return them (right Mom?!).

Typical weekend

There's really not anything exciting to blog about right now. The highlight of our weekend was getting a new washer and dryer. All was good until we did our first wash load and then whole thing started shaking like crazy! After much inspection, David realized that the guys totally installed it wrong. They even forgot to take off some plastic wrap. Good thing my husband is super handy because he fixed it and we are back to clean clothes.

I'm still counting down the days until our big ultrasound. I have come to terms with the fact that Peanut might be shy. David swears that if we aren't able to find out the gender, he'll rush out after the baby is born and decorate the nursery accordingly. We'll see about that!! I ordered my diaper bag today. It's the Ultimate Diaper Bag from Pottery Barn in khaki. They were having a sale and it was cheaper online than in the store. Gotta love that! It's the first baby item I've purchased.

Since we don't know the gender yet, I've chosen two bedding sets that I love. The boy one is called "Critter Chatter" and the girl is Laura Ashley "Gabriella". So cute!!

Tuesday news

I decided last week that I really need to start working out. Before finding out I was pregnant, I was into running. I could run up to 4 miles a day! But with the passing out problem I have, I don't want to risk hurting myself or Peanut. So today I went to my first pre-natal water aerobics class. My mom said that one of the teachers at her school was doing it and I checked into it. Tons of people do pre-natal yoga, but I'm not really calm enough to do something like that. The class was really small and the women were in all different stages of pregnancy. One of the girl's due date was yesterday and she was there! I'd be in bed if I was her. I don't know if anyone has ever done water aerobics before, but it's actually a workout. You think that because you are in water, it won't be hard....but it can be! We did some exercises with noodles and weights. I'm totally going to feel it in my arms tomorrow. But I guess that's the whole point!

In other baby news....I felt Peanut kicking me last night! I had a piece of cheesecake for dessert and was reading on the couch when I felt a little poke. Then another...and another. I couldn't decide if he/she liked the dessert or was telling me to stop eating it. It's too early for David to feel the kicks on the outside. I'm sure it's going to feel so odd when Peanut really starts moving. So cool! In 2 weeks we find out the gender. I'm trying not to get too excited because there's a chance that he/she will be shy and hide the goods. Fingers crossed that he/she's not shy!!

We went crib shopping on Saturday. We went to 5 stores and none of them had anything that I liked. There are a few online that I like, but we'd like to check it out in person before buying it. As of right now it looks like we are just going to have to take our chances and decide on one without seeing it. David likes to look at all the bolts and springs and stuff. I, on the other hand, just care what it looks like.

4 years!

Yesterday was our 4th wedding anniversary. This was our first anniversary that we were actually at home. Usually we are on vacation. We had a nice dinner at home and just hung out since it was a Thursday night. I got David an ice cream machine. If you don't know us, we eat alot of ice cream so I thought we could save some money (and calories) by making our own. I'm sure the first flavor will be chocolate! David got me a book (Chasing Harry Winston--which I had just picked up from the library, but hadn't started reading yet) and a new wedding band as mine doesn't fit right now. Tomorrow we are going to spend the day crib shopping and have a nice anniversary lunch together.

David had his first full week of work at his new job. He says that he's enjoying it and is glad he made the change. Now if only the commute wasn't so long it would be perfect!

We are in the process of moving things around in our house. We have already moved the treadmill and the work bench around in the basement. Next we are going to move the TV and futon to the basement. Now David can have his football nights and I don't have to pretend to watch it too! Hopefully by the time Peanut arrives, everything will be in it's proper place.

Monday

We had a great time in Cheyenne this weekend. The Rascal Flatts concert was AMAZING! I would defintely see them again. I saw 4 concerts this year and that was the best by far.

I had my 16 week checkup today. Everything looks good. I heard the heartbeat (144) and the doctor said it was good and strong. I was also able to hear Peanut kicking me. The doctor was surprised that I couldn't feel it yet because he/she was going crazy! Guess that means I have something to look forward to as the months go by and I'm trying to sleep! I talked to her about how I've been getting really faint and almost passing out. She said I have low blood pressure to start with and need to eat at least every 2 hours if not every hour. That sounds fun, but I'm sure she doesn't mean I get to eat ice cream every 2 hours. So I need to start finding some easy, yummy snacks. Feel free to send recipes or ideas! One bummer thing that happened this weekend was that my fingers started to swell due to heat and pregnancy and now I can't wear my wedding rings anymore. Guess I'll have to go to Target and find some huge bauble to wear until Dec.

Our 4 year anniverary is on Thursday. I can't say what I got for David as he reads my blog. So I'll tell you later.

Wyoming

Growing up in Oklahoma, I saw a lot of cowboys and country stuff. I couldn't stand country music until I was in high school. I never even thought of going to a rodeo or owning a cowboy hat. Now living in Colorado, I only listen to country, own a cowboy hat, and have been to a few rodeos. How ironic! This weekend David and I are going to Cheyenne Frontier Days with our friends Jasmine and Pete. CFD is a huge rodeo that is held in Cheyenne, Wy. It's called the "Daddy of 'Em All" and is really famous. The main reason we are going is to see Rascal Flatts perform on Saturday night. They are my favorite music group. I have all of their cds. They have been on tour for a while, but it always seemed like we were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Two years ago we were in OK and they performed in Denver. Then we were in Denver and they were in OKC. I figured I'd never get to see them! But then in Dec they announced they were performing at CFD and I made it a point to get tickets. I'm so excited!!!!

I love reading. It's always been a part of my life and I feel odd when I don't have a book to read. My love of books was evident when I cleaned out my classroom this week. I brought home 5 rubbermaid boxes filled with children's books. David said that I'm not allowed to buy another book for Peanut until he/she is in high school! My favorite place to get books is from the library. One they are free and two if the book is bad, you just return it. Right now I'm reading "Before Green Gables". It's the prequel to the Anne of Green Gables series. I loved that series when I was growing up. Probably because it was set in Canada. The movie was on PBS a few months back and I watched most of it. This new book is really good. It's not by the same author, but that's okay. So far I'm halfway through the 400 pages and I just started last night. If you like Anne of Green Gables, you should read this book.

I have another doc appt on Monday. Nothing too exciting, just a check up. Peanut is doing good. Somedays you can tell I'm pregnant and others you can't. Guess it depends on what I've eaten! I'm 4 months as of yesterday.

We're back!!

We arrived home on Saturday from spending a week in Florida. We had a great time relaxing, swimming, sight seeing and eating. Here's a little rundown of our adventures.

Friday- D and I arrive in Tampa in the late afternoon of July 4th. We rent a really cool car--PT Cruiser baby!-- and head to St. Petersberg. We stayed in this little old house that has been turned into a hotel. It totally reminded me of my grandfather's house. We walked down to the St. Petersberg Pier to watch the fireworks. They were right over the water and very beautiful.

Saturday- We drive down to Fort Myers. Emily and Drew arrived right after lunch and the Tanners arrived shortly afterwards. We hugged and chatted for a bit and then it was time to head to Captiva Island to check out our house. I have decided that renting a house on the beach is the best way to vacation. The house had 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a pool, screened porch, full kitchen....everything you could possibly need. Plus it was right on the beach. (If anyone ever wants to rent a beach house again, we are totally in!!). That night we just marveled at our surroundings and went to bed. (Oh yeah-- we saw dolphins right outside our house!)

Sunday- Time to head to the beach! The best part of where we were staying is that the beaches are full of seashells. When I tell people that, I can just see them thinking "oh yeah a few shells, cool". But I'm talking thousands of shells with every wave that comes in!! I found quite a few to add to my collection.

Monday- The island we were staying on is actually two islands attached by a bridge. We were on Captiva Island and the other one is Sanibel Island. Over 2/3 of Sanibel Island is a wildlife refuge. We went on a tour of the Ding Darling refuge on Monday. We saw all kinds of birds- rosette spoonbills, woodstorks, egrets, and pelicans to name a few. We also saw mangrove trees, crabs, spiders, and other Florida critters.

Tuesday- We decided to check out a different beach today so we headed to the Bonita Springs beach which is just south of Fort Myers. It was a little more crowded that our beach (where we are the only people there!), but was a really nice beach. I found a starfish and a really cool crab that was all spotted. David noticed a huge black spot swimming in the water and some people were saying that it was a shark, but later we decided that it was a manatee. Needless to say, I didn't go back in the water at that beach!

Wednesday- While we were still in the planning phase of the trip, I decided that it would be fun to go on a swamp tour. So I made reservations at the Babcock Wilderness Center. I was concerned that it would be just like the wildlife refuge we had just visited, but it was so different. We drove through swamp lands, saw Florida Cracker cattle, wild pigs, panthers, ALLIGATORS, and birds. I got eaten alive by the mosquitos during the swamp part, but it was worth it. Very cool place. Later that night we drove through the Ding Darling refuge again to see if we could see anything new. We saw lots more birds, raccoons, and these crazy jumping fish. As we were all saying good night at the house, I noticed these legs crawling on the kitchen wall. Then all of a sudden the thing moved some more and I screamed. It was the biggest spider I have ever seen in my life. It was at least 6 inches in diameter and that was from far away. Thankfully Michael squished it and we all went to bed dreaming about spiders.

Thursday- We took a boat ride to another island that was about 30 mins from Captiva. The name of it is Cayo Costa. We spent about 2 hours there swimming and shelling. I was determined to find a sand dollar, but could only find broken ones. The coolest part was as we were getting off the boat, I saw a manatee swimming in the water. Cross that off my list of animals to see in real life!

Friday- Our last day in Florida :-( We spent the day swimming in the pool and the ocean. David and I worked on our paddleball game and got pretty darn good at it. We went to dinner to celebrate Michael's (D's dad) birthday.

Saturday- Everyone had early flights except for us, so we headed back to Tampa in the morning. David was so nice and let me stop at an outlet mall to check out the Dooney and Burke store. I didn't find anything to die for, so we left empty handed. Then we headed to the airport and flew back to Colorado.

So that was our fun adventure in Florida. Everyone should have Sanibel and Captiva on their places to visit list. The sunsets are amazing. The shelling is great. It's just a fabulous place to vacay!

Stayin' Put...

We had a meeting with a real estate agent yesterday. He gave a great presentation about selling our house and was very knowledgeable about everything. But after he left, David and I talked about the risks of moving right now. We came to the decision (which I'm so sad about) that we should stay where we are for at least another year. Maybe by then our house will have appreciated a bit more than it has. I really had my heart set on moving, but I guess things don't always work out as we want them too. So now I'm going to put my energy into fixing up this place a bit more. I'd love to get new appliances first.

In happy news, we are leaving for Florida on Friday. It's probably going to be insane at the airport with it being the 4th of July. I hope everyone has a great 4th and enjoys the fireworks. I'll tell you all about our Florida trip when we get home.

So many changes...

Well folks I have officially joined the 2nd trimester group today! I know some of you will hate me, but the 1st trimester wasn't bad at all. I never had any sickness, but was tired alot. I'll take sleeping over being sick any day! Our next appt is July 21 and then the BIG appt is August 14. Time to find out what kind of Peanut we are having!

So the title for this post is changes. The Tanner family has alot of changes happening right now. Here are a list of the big ones:
1) Baby--I get more excited everyday about being a mom. Sometimes I want to have the baby now and other days I'm just content knowing our time will come.
2) David's new job--that's right, David is finally leaving INSTARR where he's been for the past 100 years. He's accepted a new job at this tiny company that make instruments that measure stuff. The best part is that he'll finally be making the salary he deserves! Oh and the boss buys all the employees a ski pass.
3) I retired--I think that sounds so much better than saying that I quit my job. Since the baby is due in Dec, I wasn't planning on going back to work in the spring and with all the other changes we have going on I just decided to stay home. Now I can practice cooking and knitting! It also means that I'm available to hang out with people who come to visit us (hint, hint!!)
4) We are moving--I just made an appt with a relator to come over next week to discuss putting the house on the market. D's new job is about 45 mins from here and it would be alot easier for him if we lived closer. And since I'm not working, this is the perfect time to move. We are looking for a house with a backyard for Cody.

So that's everything that's happening in our lives right now. We'll keep you posted on all of our changes. How is your life going?

One week and a day until we leave for Florida!!

Someone's in the kitchen...

If you really know me, you know that I don't cook. At all. Not even eggs. Our deal when we got married was that I would clean and David would cook. So far that's worked out great! My job is to choose the recipes and write the shopping list. Easy enough. Well I don't know if women develop domestic genes when they are pregnant, but all of a sudden I enjoy cooking. Now don't get me wrong- I still hate the sight and feel of a raw chicken, pregnant or not. But I just spent the last few hours in the kitchen preparing ribs. We were going to have them for dinner tonight and David mentioned that I should make sure we had all of the ingredinants. I started to look at the recipe and noticed that you are supposed to marinate the ribs before baking. So it was up to me to open the package, take out the ribs, make the marinade and pour it on. I had to close my eyes a few times, but I did it! After that I decided to make some pasta salad. And last night I made cookies and cream brownies (hmm...no wonder I've gained 5 lbs so far!). I'll let you know how the ribs turn out. They are from the Trisha Yearwood cookbook which my mom waited in line at Borders to get autographed for me!

I had my 2nd doctor appt today. David came with me. We met the doctor and love her! She's young and very energetic. She answered all of my questions and I feel very comfortable with her. We were able to hear the baby's heartbeat. So cool! It was 150 beats (I guess that's how you'd say it). The range is 110-160. I know I blogged about what the heartbeat could mean, but I'm not saying that anymore. I'm going to be patient and wait 8 more weeks to find out the gender. We started registering for baby items. So overwhelming! My current obsession is finding a stroller. We've read all the reviews and keep changing our minds. All baby advice is welcome! (positive only!).

Home Sweet Home

We are back in Colorado after spending a few days in Oklahoma. We had a great time visiting family and relaxing. We spent the weekend at the Tanner's lake house on Grand Lake. It's a great place to relax and catch up on sleep! The relaxing came easy as we drove around the lake on the boat and lounged by the pool, but the sleep was a bit harder to achieve. If you have ever been in a Mid-West thunderstorm then you can totally relate, but if you haven't experienced one let me explain it to you. First the temperature will fall about 10-20 degrees as the sky gets very dark. Once you are just about to fall asleep, a bolt of lightning will flash in your eyes waking you up. Then the rain will start--softly at first and then it comes down in buckets. Maybe some hail, but not always. The best part of the storm is the thunder. It's incredibly loud. Like wake you up, make you fall out of bed, shockingly loud. Combine all of that with the lightning and you have the makings of a terrible night's sleep. Oh and if you are really lucky the tornado sirens will go off and you'll have to go to your shelter. Love that! Needless to say, David and I were both every excited about sleeping in our own bed last night!

While in Tulsa I went shopping for maternity clothes. I don't really need them yet as most of my stuff still fits or I can just use a rubberband to hold them up, but there are no maternity stores near me in CO. So Mom and I went to the mall in Tulsa. I found some really good sales and some cute clothes. So now I feel alot better about transitioning out of my regular clothes. I have another appointment on Monday when we'll get to hear the heartbeat! So exciting!

Friends

One of the reasons I love Facebook and Myspace is because they help you reunite with old friends. Some might say that if you haven't kept in touch over the years, then maybe you aren't really friends. But I completely disagree with that idea. I am now able to chat with friends who I truly thought had been lost in the whirlwind of life. Maintaining friendships gets harder as you get older. There's work to deal with, spouses, children...so many obstacles! Plus it doesn't help if you live in a different state than most of your high school/college friends. There's a country song that talks about finding out who your real friends are in times of need. I often wonder who would come to my aid if, God forbid, anything ever happened. I have a pretty good idea, but people can surprise you sometime (good and bad). When I announced on Facebook that we were going to have a baby, I was elated to see how many people wrote to congratulate us. It was very heartwarming. Another thing I love about friendships is how you can take a break from each other for a few days or even years, but after one phone call or email, you can be friends again. It takes work and you might not be at the same place as before, but you can try to get there. So I dedicate this blog post to all of my friends who have been there for me in small ways and big ways. Thank you for the emails, phone calls (when I actually answer!), texts, and dates. I love David, but every girl needs a little girl time every now and then. I know that having a baby will change some friendships, but I know in my heart that the people who are supposed to be in my life will remain. Feel free to email, text or call anytime! Better yet--come visit :)

*I would like to apologize for being a crappy phone friend. I think having a long distance relationship for 5 years and only talking on the phone has really affected me. Living on Tulsa Time

Hi all! Sorry for the long absence. I'd love to say that I was super busy doing exciting things while David was gone, but that's just not true. I slept alot, watched tv, visited friends, and just relaxed. It was great! I even saw 2 movies-"Sex and the City" and "What Happens in Vegas". Both good flicks. But now David is home again and things are back to normal. Cody (our dog) has finally stopped barking all day so that is good for everyone especially our neighbors! David got home late Saturday night from Greenland. He didn't see any wild life--unless you count the muskox heads that some hunters left on the ground. I'll spare you those pictures. Right now David is at an interview at NOAA in Boulder. He also has another interview next week for a company in Golden. Fingers crossed!!

Tomorrow we are flyingto visit family in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It's going to be hot, humid, and sweaty, but I'm excited. I never really appreciated the city of Tulsa while I lived there. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time and great friends, but it can get boring living in the same city for years and years. Then I went to Norman for college and saw what it was like to live in a small town. It made me like the 'big city' alot more! Tulsa is so different from where we live in Colorado. It's hard to explain how it's different other than the mountain views. I really want to take all of my CO friends back to OK to visit. But no one ever wants to go with us!! I think they are scared :) But once they spend time on Grand Lake, they'll change their minds!

Just in case you wanted an update on Peanut....things are going well. I'm 11 weeks on Thursday and almost finished with the first trimester! Still no morning sickness (knock on wood). I haven't gained any weight, but have noticed that my pants are a bit tight around the waist. It's killing me that I can't go shopping for a new summer wardrobe. But I will survive!

First Ultrasound!

I had my first prenatal appointment today. I had this crazy fear that the doctor would check me out and then tell me that I wasn't actually pregnant. But this didn't happen and she confirmed that I am in fact with child! The best part was that I was able to have an ultrasound done. Peanut was so tiny and cute! I thought I would be like Rachel on Friends and not be able to see that baby, but I could actually see him/her very clearly. I even got a printout to show David when he gets home. The doctor said that the heartbeat was fast (which could mean a boy), but it's way too early to tell. From day one I've felt that it's going to be a boy even though I'd love to have a girl first. Plus it seems like everyone I know has a girl so I'll be the different one and have a boy. But either way we are so excited!! When David gets home I'll have him scan the picture in, but until then you'll just have to wait!

Oh yeah--the official due date is 1/1/09.

Bolder Boulder

Whew--this past weekend was a busy one! The moms flew in on Friday and we went to dinner at a yummy Mexican restaurant. Then on Saturday my dad, Meagan, Rhett, and cousin Andrew all arrived from their various homesteads. We spent Saturday night walking around downtown Denver. The weather was perfect and David and I haven't been tourists in a while down there. It was alot of fun. On Sunday we went to Pearl Street and the CU campus. Monday was the big race! I started out running and felt really good. But then I remembered reading scary stories about over exerting yourself and I started walking. I really think I could have run the whole race, but it's better that I didn't. The weather for the race was cold and rainy. Tuesday was the day when most people left. Always sad to say goodbye, but we'll see them again soon. The 'rents, Andrew and I went to Colorado Springs for the day. Mom and I went outlet shopping and I tried on some maternity clothes. I don't need them yet but it was nice to see that they aren't as ugly as I thought. I did buy one shirt because it was a good price. I took Andrew to the airport today so it's just been me and Cody hanging out. Meagan gave me the new Jodi Picoult book, "Change of Heart", and I've been reading it all day. Love her books!! Tomorrow is my first doctor's appointment. I'm not really sure what's going to take place but fingers crossed that I can have an ultra sound. Of course David is in Greenland during this time, but that's okay. He'll just have to go to all the rest of the appointments with me!

Last day of school!

The past 10 months have all led up to this day--the last day of school! It's been a great school year, but I'm so ready for it to be over. Yesterday we had our kindergarten graduation ceremony. It was so cute--they all dressed in caps and gowns and received dipolmas. The parents were very impressed. My class gave me a gift card to a spa. I will defintely be using it this summer!! But I guess I have to be careful about what kind of massage I get since I'm pregnant.
The whole family is coming into town this weekend for the Bolder Boulder. I'm super bummed because I won't be able to run it this year so I'll just walk with David. I was training up until a month ago but then got too tired to run anything longer than 1 mile. I really wanted to be the kind of pregant girl who could still run and be really active. Maybe next time! We are going to spend the weekend eating, hiking, sight seeing, and having fun. My cousin Andrew is coming out for his first trip to CO. It's always fun to take a newbie to the mountains. Fingers crossed he doesn't get sick!
Anyone have fun summer plans? We are going to Tulsa in June and Florida in July. David will also be going to Greenland, but I won't be joining him.

Okay here is my first official profile picture. David took this last week when I was 5 weeks pregnant. As you can see, there's no change yet. It's going to be very hard watching myself gain weight and change, but I have to remember that if I don't then Peanut won't grow either. (We have named the baby Peanut in case you were wondering). So if everyone could continue to tell me that I don't look fat, that'd be great for my ego!

I only have 6 more days of school!! I had alot of fun this year, but can't WAIT for summer vacation. I am just dreaming of sleeping in and playing all day (I mean more than I do at work!). We have alot of fun trips planned--Cheyenne Frontier Days, Tulsa, Florida. Yeah for summer!!
