Will's first Christmas

We survived our first holiday season as parents! We had a wonderful Christmas in Oklahoma. Wouldn't you know that we leave sunny Colorado and head to Oklahoma where they get a blizzard for the first time in 7 years!! But even with the snow, we had a great time. Everyone was in town except Meagan and Rhett (but they were having fun in Turkey so don't feel bad for them!). Some of the highlights of our trip were: awesome flights, Tulsa aquarium, Southern Hills Christmas party, Snowmaiden playgroup, spending time with family, eating!, getting snowed in on Christmas morning, celebrating Will and Cate's birthdays.

First Christmas party

Will and I attended our first Mommy & Me Christmas party today. We had so much fun! Each person brought a gift and the kiddos were able to choose one to take home. Will's gift was books which is perfect because we love to read!

Santa

Santa came early to the Tanner household. We are traveling to Oklahoma this weekend and I didn't want to have to ship gifts home so we had our family Christmas on Sunday. I gave David a few shirts and he gave me a gps for the car. Will got lots of fun new toys. Grammie sent him the Fisher Price barn. He loves to chew on the animals and open the silo door. We gave him some shirts, a Fisher Price airplane, and the Fisher Price Laugh n' Learn home. He loves the home! David bought Will a special soccer ball and some cars. Boys can't live without their cars!

Baby pool party!!

11 months old!

Will is 11 months old! Only 4 more weeks until we have a toddler!! Oh my...

He's been very mobile the past few weeks. He has the army crawl down pat and is working on crawling on his knees. He'll do it for a few crawls and then collaspe onto his tummy from all the work. The other day he actually took a few steps on his own although David thinks he was just throwing himself at me. I'm guessing he'll be walking in no time! (I'm not ready for that!!). Will loves to play with his friends and we are fortunate enough to be able to see friends everyday. Yesterday we had a playdate and everyone had a great time playing in the ball pit. Will still enjoying listening to books although it's very hard to get him to sit still long enough to finish a whole book. There's just too much to see and do! His third tooth (top front left) is starting to poke through. I'm sure the right one will come in soon after. Will loves to "talk" and chats all the time. Whenever he drops something, he says "uh" instead of "uh-oh". I guess that counts as his first word as he's saying it with meaning and knows what it means.

I took Will to see Santa last week....huge FAIL as he was terrified of him and screamed the whole time Santa held him. I felt bad for Santa but I'm sure he is used to crying babies!

I'm in the process of planning his first birthday party. We are going to rent a room at the rec center and go swimming. Don't worry it's an indoor pool :)

We are off to Tulsa on the 19th for Christmas. So excited!!

I can't believe I'm almost one year old....

No pants nap

Sometimes we put Will down for his nap in just his shirt and diaper. I was coming home from Target yesterday when I got a text from David-- "someone is not allowed to have no pants naps anymore". Uh-oh that can't be good. David was getting Will dressed when I went into his room and he told me to look at the camera. This is what I saw...

Apparently David heard Will waking up, but since he wasn't crying he was going to let him play in his crib for a bit. Then David heard from wierd noises so he went into Will's room and found him standing up (with a huge smile) and his diaper on the bed behind him. Will decided to take off his diaper and pee all over his bedsheets and bumper pad. I'm sure it was great fun for him but annoying for us as we had to wash everything. So lesson learned--always wear pants to bed!

Thanksgiving 2009

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. My parents came out Wednesday night and stayed until Sunday morning. They had a great time playing with Will. He was very spoiled and stayed up late at night and drank his bottle while laying on the floor. He took right to my parents and was happy to have them hold him and kiss him (which occurred alot!!).

On Thanksgiving day we all went to the park and watched Will "play". He loves to walk around the base of the equipment and bang on the posts. I see a job as a civil engineer in his future as he likes to see how things work and how they are made. He was very upset when David tried to take him away from the slide before he could investigate it. Our Thanksgiving meal was very yummy. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy (that David made from scratch), rolls, corn, asparagus, stuffing and cranberries. I made a cranberry cheesecake for dessert and David made a pecan pie. We had alot of leftovers!

Mom and I were up bright and early (7:45am) on Black Friday. We found some great deals at Macy's. We were home by noon so that my dad and David could go to the CU/Neb football game. Poor CU lost. On Saturday my parents and I went to the outlets in Castle Rock while David stayed home with Will.

David and I were able to have a few date nights. Friday night we went to Target to look around and see if there were any good deals left (there weren't). Will was drinking his bottle when we got home and we asked how bathtime went....Will decided to have some fun with Grammie and Grampie and poop in the bath. Apparently it was everywhere! Glad we missed that one! Saturday night was another date night and we went to Boulder for dinner. We had dessert at the Cheesecake Factory--peppermint bark cheesecake = heaven!! Sunday morning my parents left and things are back to normal. We leave for Tulsa in 3 weeks...I can't believe it's almost Will's first Christmas!
