Sorry for the lack of postings, but we have been so busy lately. My mom spent 10 days with us in the middle of July. It was alot of fun having her stay with us. Will decided he needed to show off for Grammie so he slept throughout the night, learned how to roll over both ways, and laughed the entire time she was here. He loves his Grammie :) I took a two day ecology class for my continuing education credits. It was pretty boring, but I took it with my friend Barb and things are never boring when we are together! David and I were able to go on many dates while my mom was here. We even went to a movie (Harry Potter-great!!).

On July 24, we celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary. I got David a new shirt and a suitcase. He got me a gorgeous diamond anniversary band. He even made sure the diamonds were princess cut to match my engagment ring....how sweet is that :) To celebrate our anniversary, we got takeout and watched a movie. Very different than past years!

This weekend we are going to Breckenridge for our first non-Oklahoma family vacation. I'm so excited! David's cousin gave us a backpack carrier that Will actually likes so we are going to go on a few short hikes. I'm sure we are going to have alot of pictures to share when we get back.

My friend Karen and I are training to run a 5K in Sept and Oct. It feels so good to run again! Will is able to sit in the BOB stroller without the carseat and enjoys watching everything go by. Karen introduced me to running skirts and I love them. They are so much better than shorts because you don't have to worry about them riding up. You should get one. Plus you feel all cute in a skirt!

David is in the process of buying a new car....more details to come when the government decides if they are going to continue the cash for clunkers program (or as I like to call it "the David Tanner get rid of your Jeep" program).

Goodbye old friend...

Today is a sad day in the Tanner household. We made the difficult decision to put our dog Cody down. For the past few years he's had really bad hips and have trouble getting up and walking. Also because his back legs are so weak, his paws drag on the ground which cause his foot pads to bleed. He went to the vet last week and the doctor gave him some new meds to try for 2 weeks. It's only been a week, but David and I can tell that the meds aren't helping. It's so sad watching him struggle to get up. He was 12 1/2 years old and David had had him for almost 9 years. Cody was obsessed with David and always wanted to be right by his side. He hated to be away from David and would pace the floor until he came home. He was a very loyal and loving dog.

*Cody used to love chasing bunnies, squirrels and prairie dogs. We would take him to open space and he'd run forever! One time David and I took Cody to the Tulsa Rose Gardens. Everything was perfect until Cody saw a bunny and took off running through the roses! He even ripped his nylon leash....David invested in a leather leash after that :)

*Before I married David, Cody was his co-driver and sat in the passenger seat whenever they went someplace. He didn't take to sitting in the back very well and would try to squeeze himself out the windows as we were driving down the street. We had to pull over many times and force him back inside. The best dog purchase we ever made was the Cody Cage that is in my car. Before that, Cody would spend the entire drive climbing over the back seat into the trunk and back again. He would, of course, get stuck with his head in the trunk and his butt on the backseat, so we'd have to pull over and fix him. Fun times in the car!!

*We took Cody to Petsmart once to get dog food. He did really well until it was time to check out. Then he decided to pee all over the floor...we are taking lake size puddle. The cashier just looked at David and pointed to the paper towels.

*Cody loved to eat anything and everything. Some favorites would be: dried worms stuck to the ground; tupperware containers....at least 40 if not more; loaves of bread; pepper jack cheese...well really any cheese; poop; rotting pumpkins; gingerbread houses; brownies; dark chocolate; peanut brittle; entire boxes of shortbread cookies; trash straight from the trashcan.

So thank you Cody for being a great dog; even with all the hair, slobber, smells, and loud barking. You were a great companion to David, Will and I. Enjoy the big park in the sky :) Every time I find another dog hair (and they are everywhere!) I will take comfort in remembering one thing....all dogs go to Heaven.

6 months!

Six months ago, David and I welcomed our son into the world. Time has flown by!

*He weighs 17 lbs 8 oz (52%); he's 26 inches long (46%) and his head circumference is 17 inches (73%).

*Will is able to sit up all by himself.

*He can reach for toys that are close to him. He loves to pull on the bars of his activity mat and laughs when it falls on top of him.

*He talks all the time now! I think baby sounds are the most precious sounds on earth. He coos, giggles, and blabs to anything he sees. My mom claims that he gets it from me :-)

*Will loves to eat food! He has tried apples, squash, pears, peaches, bananas, carrots, prunes, avocado, green beans, and peas. I started feeding him three meals a day and he gulps down every meal.

*He's been on two airplanes trips to Tulsa.

*He loves to swim in the bathtub and the rec center pool.

*We joined a new playgroup and he's made a bunch of new friends. We still get together with Megan and Ezra each week to walk.

*We still get stopped everywhere we go so people can comment on his cheeks. The worst was when we were at the mall in Tulsa--we got stopped in every store! One lady actually kissed his feet...not cool!!

*He loves his jumperoo toy.

*Will is an absolute joy and is a very happy baby.

Great beginning...crappy ending

David, Will and I went to Tulsa for the weekend for our 10 year high school reunion. We left Thursday night and got home last night. Will did great on the flight to Tulsa. I think David and I have finally figured out how to time everything to keep the little guy happy. He's such a ham and loves to flirt with the flight attendants and the grandmas that sit near us. The Tanners came over to my parent's house Thursday night to see us...well actually they just wanted to see Will :)

Friday--We went swimming at the Tanner's house. Will loved being in the water as I knew he would. He's all ready for our lake trip in August. Friday night was date night for David and I. We went to Los Cabos on the Riverwalk for some good Mexican food. We didn't realize that's where all of Tulsa goes on a Friday night...the wait was really long for a table, but we found one outside after only waiting a bit. We drank lots of margaritas as the temperature was over 100F and we were sweating our butts off! Will stayed with my parents and had a great time with them.

Saturday--David went golfing with Jay and Nick. The temperature was well over 100F so there was no way I was going to join them! Marcy, Sarah and I went on the tour of Bishop Kelley with about 20 of our old classmates. The school looks nothing like it did when we went there...they even have a coffee bar in the library! It was fun walking around and remembering the good ol' days. Saturday night was the main reunion event at a bar in downtown Tulsa. 12 of our friends met at my parent's house so we could all carpool. It was so fun to catch up with everyone...there was lots of laughter! My mom took a group picture and commented that we haven't changed much in 10 years. I was very impressed with the turnout of classmates. We graduated with a total of 192 and there were about 80 people Sat night. It was still pretty cliquey, but fun to see everyone. I think the car ride home was the best part of the night...we laughed for the entire 30 minutes it took to get home.

Sunday--Pool party! I invited Rachel and Ella and a few others to join us at the Tanner's pool. It was Ella's first time in a real pool and she did great...except for the few mouthfuls of water she swallowed :) Sean dropped by for a bit to chat. He's living in Rome and studying to become a priest. He gave David and I a very special gift straight from Jerusalem that was blessed by the Pope! It will hang next to the crosses in Will's room. Thanks Sean!

Monday--We spent the day packing and saying goodbye to the grandparents. Usually we take early flights, but this time our flight left at 8pm. I liked having the whole day to play and then leave. I'm not a big fan of waking up early. Everything went very smoothly at the airport and on the flight. Just as we were about to land in Denver, the pilot told us that we were being diverted to Colorado Springs because of lightning. We could have gone 45 mins into the mountains and over the storm, but we didn't have enough gas. So we had to stop for gas and wait for the lightning to stop....the lightning, rain, and wind lasted for 3.5 hours! That's right--we SAT on the runway in Colo Springs for 3.5 hours. We couldn't fuel up because the storm was too bad and we couldn't get off because the plane had to be in Denver. It was miserable...we were able to walk around which helped and the flight attendants gave us granola bars, but it still sucked to be so close to home and stuck on a plane. We got home around 2am Tuesday morning. The silver lining in all of this was that Will was wonderful!! We gave him Tylenol and he slept the entire time. Thank goodness!!

Will's new favorite game is Peek-a-Boo.

We have had a really busy week. Tuesday we went walking with our friends Beth and Ezra. I didn't wear any sunscreen and my shoulders are a nice shade of red. Thankfully it's starting to fade and they don't really hurt anymore. Wednesday we went swimming with Karen and Megan. Megan is taking swim lessons and she showed us everything she's learning. I signed Will up for swim lessons in July (he's on the waitlist though). The swimming totally wore Will out and he slept for 4 hours! Today was our first playgroup with the moms group I belong to. There were 4 moms and babies (3 boys!!). It was nice to chat with new friends and Will enjoyed looking at the other kids. Tomorrow we are having a playdate with Karen, Megan, Beth and Ezra. We always have a great time together. This weekend is our neighborhood garage sale. I have been going through the house for the past month collecting things to sell. I can't wait to get rid of everything!!

Next weekend we are off to Tulsa for our 10 year high school reunion. I'm really excited to see everyone....David, on the other hand, is not too excited. We still talk to friends from high school so it will be nice to see them. Plus we get to see the grandparents and go swimming!

5 months!

Will is 5 months old today! To celebrate we went swimming at the rec center. He loves his baths so we figured he'd enjoy swimming and we were right! He didn't really know what to do and just watched all of the other kids running around. We are getting ready for Grandma and Grandpa's pool in Tulsa in 3 weeks. Will is doing great on all of his milestones--he's able to sit up without support, touch his toes, laugh, smile, "talk", grab and reach for things. We started food last week and he wasn't too interested in plain rice cereal--too bland--so the doctor suggested adding fruit to it. We chose peaches to mix in and he loves it! This morning was the first time I couldn't get the food to his mouth fast enough! We are going to try bananas next.

We went to the library this week and signed up for the summer reading program. Isn't it cute that they have one for infants?! Will needs to have 10 books read to him and then he gets a new book from the library. I'm all about free stuff and we read every night already so it's perfect!

Last week I started babysitting/tutoring a little boy. He was in my kindergarten class and I tutored him last summer also. He comes every Wednesday. His name is Dylan and he's wonderful with Will. He's always asking about him and wanting to play with him. I think he's a little disappointed that Will can't really do anything besides sit up and chew on stuff, but they have fun together. It gives me a good idea of what life would be like with a second grader and a baby--crazy!
