4 months!

That's right--Will is 4 months old! We go to the doctor next week for his second round of shots. I'm excited to see how much he weighs. I'm guessing close to 15 lbs. He defintely isn't starving! He has started laughing alot at the most random things. He smiles all the time and is in a great mood unless he's overtired. We are still working on rolling over, but he's doing much better with his tummy time. He used to scream the entire time, but now he'll tolerate it for a few minutes. He loves to read books and hold them in his hands. His favorite toys are Brownie, a stuffed dog, and Burpy, a burp cloth. Whenever anything comes close to his mouth, he'll try to bite it. David's thumb is a favorite thing to chew on. Will and I went to the library for the first time this week. They have a great children's program that we are going to start participating in. They even have a summer reading program for babies! David and I took Will to the mall for lunch over the weekend. He just stared at all the people and colors. I think it was a little too much for him!

After dinner on Tuesday, we decided to have a little family time outside. I love how late it stays light out. Will is starting to enjoy putting his feet in the grass.

Playdate

On Tuesday Will and I hosted playgroup at our house. Our playgroup consists of two girls I met at prenatal swim class and their babies--Megan and Ezra. Each time we get together I'm so thankful that I went to that swim class. It's so fun to have friends who understand what you are going through and who can share their experiences with you. This is the first child for all three of us so we have lots of questions! Since the weather has started becoming nicer, we have been meeting at the lake near my house to walk in the afternoons. The babies usually fall asleep and the moms chat. It's great plus we get exercise!

This was the first time all of the babies were awake for most of the playdate. Megan is 6 mons old, Will is 4 mons old, and Ezra is 3 mons old. They are still too young to actually play with each other, but they do enjoy staring at one another.

10 years!

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of my and David's first date. Wow, a whole decade together!! I thought it would be fitting to go down memory lane for this post...

We first met in Mrs. Scribner's freshman English class at Bishop Kelley. I thought David was really nice. He was the kind of guy who would help you out if you were confused by an assignment or, in my case, if you were talking too much and missed the directions. I remember that he came back from skiing during spring break with a huge sunburn on his face. I'm pretty sure we all laughed at him!

Throughout high school, we had a few classes together. He remembers more of the classes that we had together than I do. It wasn't until the summer after junior year that our groups of friends started hanging out together. Being mature high school seniors, we just couldn't say that we liked each other....we had to act like kids and flirt like crazy. I remember that we would undo the straps on each other's backpacks and laugh when it fell to the ground. After school I would time it so that we ended up walking to our cars together and talking. I don't think I ever told any of my friends that I liked him, but they could tell. I would get butterflies everytime I saw him!

Prom was right around the corner and everyone was talking about who they would go with. I wanted to go with David, but wasn't about to ask him! One day I was sitting in AP Psych when an office aide brought me an envelope. I opened it up and found puzzle pieces. By this time the whole class was watching me. I put the puzzle together and it said "will you go to prom with me?" There was no signature, but I figured out it was David. We past each other in the hall after class and I said "yes I will go to prom with you". We decided that we should go out before prom so it wouldn't be too awkward. Soon I started receiving emails from the address 'secretadmirer@yahoo.com' . At the end of each email, there were roses drawn in the shape of letters. I received 5 in all and the roses spelled David's name. It was so cute!! Our first date was the night before prom. We went to Boston Deli for dinner, Baskin & Robbins for dessert (I got pink bubble gum), then back to his house to play Super Mario Kart and watch Star Wars (I'll never know why we watched that movie!).

We spent the whole summer after graduation together and then we both went off to college. I stayed in Oklahoma and went to OU and David ventured out west to CU. We were able to see each other on school breaks, holidays and summers. I lived in Colorado during the summer of 2003. We started talking about marriage and the "what ifs..". David proposed to me in the Flatiron mountains on July 22, 2003. We got married a year later on July 24, 2004. It's so hard to believe that we have talked almost every single day for 10 years and haven't run out of things to talk about! Now we have entered into a new phase of life as parents and are enjoying every minute!

Shred

Will has changed his nap time to 9am so we aren't able to go to our stroller class anymore. Boo! But I have been reading about this workout video called "30 Day Shred". It's hosted by the trainer from the Biggest Loser show. It's only a 20 min workout with no breaks in between the exercises. There's 3 levels and you do each of them for 10 days. I started with level 1 yesterday and let me tell you...it kicked my butt! I can't wait to see the results after 30 days! Swimsuit season here I come!

Visit to Tulsa

Leaving Denver: We left Denver last Wed at 12pm. It sounded like a good departure time until I realized that we would have to leave the house during Will's nap time. I have learned the hard way to NEVER wake a sleeping baby so I was concerned as to how we were going to make this work. He actually woke up right before we needed to leave. So I fed him and off we went to the airport. Check-in and security were really fast and smooth. It was a little stressful trying to get everything through the x-ray machine, but thanks to the helpful TSA people (not!) we did it. I gave Will some Tylenol right before we boarded and he fell asleep. Perfect...and then the take off announcements started....and the baby woke up! Our flight was only 90 mins and he screamed for about 70 of those mintues. I was so stressed out! He fell asleep right before we landed.

Tulsa: We did so many fun things while in Oklahoma.
*Wed: arrived in Tulsa. David's parents came over to my house and we all had dinner together. Will got lots and lots of kisses!

*Thurs: Mommy got a pedicure while Will and Daddy played at Grandma's house. Auntie Meagan arrived late on Thurs night and just had to peek at Will while he was sleeping.

*Fri: We woke Auntie Meagan up early so she could meet Will. They had a great time playing and laughing together. Will jumped everytime Meagan laughed--guess it scared him! The girls went to get manicures while Will slept (he seemed to sleep best when the girls weren't around!).

*Sat: Meagan, Mom, Pam and I went to the Madonna House Tea and Fashion Show in downtown Tulsa. Will stayed home with Daddy, Grandpa and Grampie. Again, he slept great! Sarah, her daughter Hannah, and our friend Marcus came over to meet Will. Will just stared at Hannah as she crawled around the house. I think he was jealous! David and I went on a date to Hideway Pizza and Braum's. Love the food in Tulsa!!

*Sun: The big day--baptism! The baptism was at St. Benedict's Church where David and I were married. Fr Matt officiated and he was the same priest who married us 4 1/2 years ago. The ceremony was short and sweet and Will did great! He only cried when the water was poured onto his head. After the ceremony everyone went back to the Tanner's for a little reception. Will finally met Juliet and Ella (babies of my friends). It was a great time to talk with people and have them meet Will.
*Mon: David and I couldn't leave Tulsa without having lunch at Camille's! While we were there we saw a whole table of former Kelley English teachers including Mrs. Rollins! Sorry Sarah, I didn't talk to her! My family came over to the Tanners to say goodbye to Will as Meagan was leaving to head back to Philly. The weather was beautiful so we took Will outside to experience grass for the first time. He loved it!
*Tues: Time to leave!

Leaving Tulsa: David and I were so nervous for this flight! But Will did fantastic!! He drank his bottle, played, laughed, and slept. Thank goodness!! Everything went so smoothly with this flight that we knew the good luck couldn't last....as we were driving out of the airport my car died. Thankfully we were able to make it to the service station and have a mechanic look at it. It took about 90 mins. The saving grace was that Will was in a good mood and played while we waited to see what was wrong with the car. After about an hour, he started to get cranky and we realized that he had pooped all over his clothes. So I took him into the gas station to change him. Then he really got mad as he was hungry but there was nowhere to feed him. David had to rent a car to get us home as the shop didn't have the part that was needed to fix my car. It was the longest day ever, but we made it home in one piece.
